ASSISTANT DIRECTOR IN PUBLIC HEALTH/CONSULTANT IN PUBLIC HEALTH/PUBLIC HEALTH MEDICINE
CHIEF OFFICER BAND 5 (£66,963 - £77,780 pro rata )
Part time PERMANENT POST for 22.5 hours per week
LOCATED IN BOLTON COUNCIL AND EMPLOYED ON BOLTON COUNCIL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
An opportunity has arisen within Bolton Council to recruit an appropriately qualified Consultant in Public Health/Consultant in Public Health Medicine. This post is a permanent Chief Officer and will be one of three Consultants / Assistant Directors in Public Health posts going forward.
The post holder will be based within the Public Health Team at Bolton Town Hall which is part of the Council’s People Directorate. The team has recently been re-structured to further ensure synergy between the team’s remit and the Council’s health improvement responsibilities.
All Consultant/Assistant Director in Public Health post holders will work to a broad generic job description and new post holders will be employed on Bolton Council terms and conditions.
Annual job plans across the entire public health team will be agreed at the beginning of each financial year.
The post holder will lead on key areas of work across the public health team and contribute to work with key partner agencies and other Local Authority colleagues. Alongside the other Assistant Directors in Public Health, the post holder will support the Director of Public Health in discharging his duties and deputise as appropriate.
To be considered for this post you must be able to cope with multiple and changing demands, and to meet tight deadlines. A high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness, negotiation and motivation skills and flexibility is essential. You must be able to demonstrate a high level of tact, diplomacy and an ability to understand other cultures as well as advise, challenge and advocate across organisational boundaries in order to effectively influence stakeholders, senior Council staff and Local Authority Members.
Closing Date: 8th June 2017
Initial interviews and an assessment centre will be held on 19th June 2017. .
Following these initial interviews successful candidates will be invited to present to the Council’s Appointments Panel on the morning of the 21st June 2017
