Turton is an oversubscribed and high-achieving 11-18 school of 1550 students, with 320 in the Sixth Form.

We are an innovative Leadership Team, looking at creative and exciting approaches to teaching and learning, in order to engage and challenge both staff and students.  We are seeking to appoint an experienced teacher with strong subject knowledge to both teach our inspiring English curriculum and contribute towards the leadership of the Department.

Candidates must have the ability to motivate and inspire others, the commitment to care for everyone in our school community and an enthusiasm for learning and teaching English that energises young people and allows them to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they will need to fulfil their potential.

The distinctive Turton ethos is values-led.  Compassion and good relationships underpin all of our practices.  The successful candidate will join a team of hard-working and dedicated colleagues, supportive parents, a fully involved governing body and inspiring students.

Teachers are our most valued resource, thus professional development is at the heart of our working practice.  We run our innovative and highly effective ‘Triad’ programme – a collaborative programme that operates on the principles of collegiality as a way of supporting everyone’s development.  This is within a school culture that values teachers, promotes well-being and ensures a manageable workload.

This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This school is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. The school is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
