Exciting opportunity to join Bolton’s developing Referral and Assessment Service, which is now part of an integrated duty team named the Multi Agency Screening and Safeguarding Service (MASSS). The MASSS enables a more collaborative way of working with police and with the health lead appointed to the MASSS. The successful candidate will be a qualified social worker with experience of undertaking children and family assessments and formulating plans for vulnerable children and their families. The successful candidate will be expected to work within the MASSS on a rota basis responding to child protection enquiries and referrals in respect of concerns for the welfare of children in Bolton. The successful candidate outside of MASSS duty will continue to formulate child action plans and assessments for vulnerable children and hold cases on a short term basis to improve outcomes for children and families.
You will be a motivated and enthusiastic practitioner with the ability to build professional relationships with children and their families.
You will have good knowledge and experience in safeguarding children, as well as being able to produce excellent assessments and understand the current changes within children’s social work.
You will be resilient, adaptable and capable of working effectively with colleagues from other professional disciplines.
You will be an excellent communicator, efficient in time management, report writing and completing assessments as well as a strong team player who values the strength of working in a person centred manner.

All newly qualified social workers (NQSW’s) are entitled to a supported and assessed year in employment (ASYE) that is designed to ensure that they have opportunities to develop as professional social workers and to ensure that they have a fair chance to show their capabilities. Progression to Grade 9 for existing Grade 8 Social Workers in Bolton will be achieved by successful completion of the Post Qualification Specialist Award or the Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice (or equivalent).
