Applications are invited for the above post within a high performing local authority. The post holder will be part of a small team who take a corporate approach to safety management. The team is responsible for developing and monitoring the councils policy, wellbeing strategy, guidance and procedures as well as monitoring implementation and dealing with the more reactive aspects of health and safety such as incident/accident reporting.


Committed to continuous improvement, you will provide support and guidance on a broad and complex set of health, safety and wellbeing risks across the authority, directorates, schools and external partners in order for them to manage those risks. You will help us develop an environment where health, safety and staff wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. Sensible risk management should be your motto. 
Can you?

Develop and present reports on accidents, performance and reviews
Develop and structure sensible and proportionate guidance
Audit health and safety management systems
Provide advice to complete employee risk assessments to identify reasonable adjustments
Help managers develop risk assessments, safe systems of work
Work well with Officers, Members, Partners and Trade Union colleagues
Deliver a comprehensive programme of training and workshops from small groups of staff up to 100 delegates at one time
Maintain customer focus, and deliver excellent customer service, including ensuring services are provided in a prompt, professional, courteous and helpful manner


Do you have?

 

NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent or be working towards finishing these studies with a minimum of 3 years practical experience of health and safety wellbeing in a similar type organisation

           

Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) membership, holding at least GradIOSH status and working towards Chartered Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH)

This post is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English as per the person specification.
