The Role
You will form
part of a team of surveyors and will be responsible for the delivery of
Building Control services across the Borough.
Covering a wide
range of work from commercial town centre schemes to domestic developments.
You will be
able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the legislation and
technical documents which underpin the Building Regulations; and your ability
in dealing with reports regarding dangerous structures. Most importantly you
will be able to work with a range of clients from homeowners to large
commercial / industrial developers who expect a prompt service and high-quality
advice.
About You
To carry out this
role you should be qualified to degree level or equivalent, in a related
discipline and be a Corporate Member of a building control related organisation
– Chartered Association of Building Engineers (MCABE), Chartered Institute of
Building (MCIOB), or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or
equivalent
You should have
a good understanding and practical knowledge and experience of the role and its
accountabilities, ideally acquired whilst working in a Local Authority or
Approved Inspector building control organisation.
You will be
expected to take part in the ‘out of hours’ rota, for responding to reports of
dangerous structures 24/7, for which an additional payment is made

Control Service is ISO 9001 Certified and annually we receive in the region of
1,000 applications providing a wide range of services including full plans
submissions, building notices, partnership working, regularisations and street
naming and numbering. This work involves
over 7,000 inspections per year.
In addition,
Building Surveyors attended a total of 159 reports of dangerous buildings.

ensure a healthy and safe environment whilst assisting clients to achieve
appropriate standards throughout the construction process
