Job Title:         Housing Options Officer

Team:               Housing Options, Community Housing Services

Hours:              37 per week

Grade:              F scp 17 £24,491 to scp 23 £27, 741            

Contract:         12 months Fixed Term           

 

The Role

You will deliver high quality housing options & advice to homeless households and others in housing need, including:

Ø  provide all aspects of casework from initial contact, assessment, decision, provision of prevention and relief assistance.

Ø  assist vulnerable customers to access and engage in services; offering advice and support on all options; advocating and negotiating on behalf of customers; and work closely with other agencies externally & internally in order to prevent and relieve homelessness and to provide for other household needs. 

Ø  support of a successful implementation of the Homelessness Reduction Act and the local homelessness strategic objectives.

 

About You

The successful candidate will have:

Ø  excellent communication and networking skills to build positive relationships and support customers to take ownership in addressing their housing and other needs.

Ø  understanding, knowledge and awareness of housing need, homelessness issues, relevant legal context and associated service provision.

Ø  excellent casework practice and strive for best practice in support of the team and service as a whole.

Ø  initiative, be effective in organising, planning and prioritising and be able to demonstrate a track record of making appropriate decisions and securing positive outcomes with complex casework.

 

About Us

Housing Options and Advice Services is part of Community Housing Services Division within Adult Services / Integrated Care Partnership (ICP). The service comprises: housing advice and homelessness; the Homes for Bolton choice-based lettings service (covering Bolton Community Homes providers) as well as the Money Skills and Advice service and young persons Mediation team. The role will work within the homelessness team with a wide range of partner agencies in order prevent and relieve homelessness as well as support a betterment of peoples’ overall well-being.
