Volunteers in Care Homes Co-ordinator

1 x part time post - 18 hours - £20,777 per annum pro rata
May include occasional out of hours with some flexibility
(Fixed term contract until 1 October 2019)

Shockingly at least 60% of older people in care homes have no visitors and loneliness among residents is at least double that of older people in the community. Some describe a sense of having lost everything, helplessness and a profound sense of being alone. Volunteers can offer time, care and support to overcome these feelings. A sense of belonging and being cared for, by someone other than paid staff, having something fulfilling to do and someone to share a laugh with is so important to health and wellbeing.

Do you have the skills, passion and commitment to recruit and support a team of volunteers making such a difference to the lives of residents in Bolton’s care homes?

Age UK Bolton, working alongside Bolton Council, are developing a package of services designed to provide stimulating activities for older people living in a number of care homes. We have a strong track record of volunteer-led service delivery offering a wide range of creative, physical and wellbeing activities in older people’s accommodation, day centres and community venues.

We are looking for a resourceful, practical and empathetic individual to deliver a high quality service, developing meaningful and stimulating activities for people, some of whom are living with dementia in a residential setting.

For more information please call Suzanne Hilton, Chief Executive or Heather Crook, Operations Director on 01204 701525.

Full details of the job description and person specification are available here as well as an application and equalities form. Please send completed applications to: postmaster@ageukbolton.org.uk or post to Age UK Bolton, The Square, 53-55 Victoria Square, Bolton BL1 1RZ.

Please note C.Vs will not be accepted.

Closing date: Wednesday 22 August 2018 at 5pm
Interviews will take place on: Tuesday 4th and Thursday 6th September
