Pay Scale – L3 – L7 (£41,777 - £46,196)

Contract – Permanent

The Governors and Head teacher are looking to appoint an excellent, enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Headteacher to lead and manage the EYFS effectively and efficiently, which includes a large Nursery and Reception cohort, ranging from ages 2 to 5, in order to provide the highest quality education possible for each child entrusted to our care.

MAIN DUTIES

Strategic direction and development of the school

• Fully and actively supporting the vision, ethos, aims and objectives of the school;
• Developing an effective working relationship with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, leadership team and all staff;
• Being an active member of the school’s leadership team;
• Taking a lead role in the school’s self-evaluation processes linked to the EYFS, monitoring progress towards curricular and other targets;
• Working with the Headteacher, governors and staff in the formulation and effective delivery of the Strategic School Improvement Plan linked to the EYFS;
• Assisting the Headteacher in the planning of the annual budget and managing financial delegation for the Early Years;
• Making a positive and regular contribution within full governing body and committee meetings;
• To take account of national and local initiatives

Teaching and learning

• Modelling high standards in what constitutes outstanding Early Years practice;
• Co-ordinating the curriculum throughout school;
• Managing the quality and effectiveness of the EYFS curriculum through the co-ordination of teaching and learning, and spreading good practice of effective teaching and learning styles;
• Leading strategies aimed at raising standards and achievements across the EYFS, including and attendance;
• Having an overview of assessment, recording and reporting throughout the EYFS and liasing with the assessment leads;
• Leading the co-ordination of a subject area throughout the school;
• Being prepared to teach in any age group(s) in school in both planned and unplanned situations;

Leading and managing staff

• Modelling positive leadership and teamworking behaviours, treating all members of the school community with equal respect;
• Working with the Headteacher  and Deputy Headteacher to establish distributed leadership throughout the school and EYFS;
• Providing help and support for colleagues, and have a positive impact on classroom practice through coaching, evaluation, feedback and staff development programmes;
• Taking a leading role in the delivery of the school’s Professional Review/Appraisal policy, and encouraging a positive attitude towards it.

Pupil support

• Taking a share in the leadership of discipline and pastoral care for pupils;
• Leading collective worship.

General

• Carrying out the professional duties as outlined for Assistant Headteachers in the Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document;
• Promoting the school in the community, playing a proactive role in the local educational community at cluster and LA levels;
• Ensuring effective internal communication throughout the school and external communications with parents and other groups;
• Showing commitment to the extra-curricular activities of the school;
• Undertaking any professional responsibility delegated to the post
