COVER SUPERVISOR(S)
GRADE 5 SCP 21 -25 (£10.44 - £11.74 per hour)
Casual hours during term time to cover teacher absences

Turton is an oversubscribed and high-achieving 11-18 school of 1600 students, with 400 in the Sixth Form

We are seeking to appoint highly motivated and flexible team players who will be expected to provide cover in lessons for absent teachers. The role will primarily involve communicating teacher set tasks to pupils and supervising the completion of that work whilst promoting positive behaviour and conduct.

We expect that these positions will attract applications from applicants from a range of backgrounds but all with the common experience of working successfully with young people in an education or similar setting. Equally this opportunity might suit those applicants with a proven aptitude for working with young people and who may be considering a teaching career in the future and are looking for valuable relevant experience.

Whilst some cover needs may be known in advance e.g. known school trips, planned absences etc. many will only be determined early on the day e.g. if a response to staff illness or emergency leave. As a result the successful applicants will need to be flexible and available to come in to school at short notice for all or part of a day. The school appreciates that the applicants may have other commitments and may not always be available.

The distinctive Turton ethos is values-led.  Compassion and good relationships underpin all of our practices.  The successful candidate will join a team of hard-working and dedicated colleagues, supportive parents, a fully involved governing body and, of course, inspiring students.

This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This school is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. The school is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

For further details of the school and an application form please contact the school or alternatively visit our website where you will find a full application pack including the facility to download the school’s application form. E-mail responses to hathawayl@turton.uk.com

Application forms should be returned for the attention of Leonie Hathaway, HR Manager by 9.00 a.m. on Tuesday 26th September.
