The Role:

The post holder will require a qualification as a City/Guilds or NVQ Joinery Qualification or equivalent and will be based within the Independent Living Service, alongside two other officers delivering a specialist service across the borough.

 

The post holder must have the ability to conduct an assessment of need for the possible provision of appropriate equipment/adaptations and the ability to carry out joinery tasks such as fitting rails to walls, bolting frames to floor, fitting of stair rail etc. as well as supporting with the supply and fix of key safes and more specialist knowledge in relation to the installation of Sensory and Telecare equipment (training re specialist elements will be provided as necessary).

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for working with adults, understanding their needs, aspirations and supporting them to enhance their quality of life with the promotion of independence. 


You will need to be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels and liaise and co-work with own colleagues/agencies and members of staff from other disciplines. You will work alongside a small team of Disability Adaptations Officers to do everything possible to ensure that the Department fulfils its primary purposes both effectively and efficiently to people with disabilities. The specific responsibilities to the post relate to providing a technical and practical service to people with disabilities. 

 

About Us :

 The Independent Living Service (ILS) aims to promote the independence of disabled/sensory impaired residents of Bolton, by offering assessments with a view to providing advice, rehabilitation, equipment and/or adaptations and long term support.

The team complete assessments for people experiencing difficulties with activities of daily living due to a physical/medical/sensory condition, that are both complex and non-complex  in nature and usually require the provision of equipment from the Integrated Community Equipment Store and/or rehabilitation and possible long term support services.

Our Disability Adaptations Officers are qualified joiners who complete some of the minor adaptations needed within people’s homes.
