The Role
This is an exciting new opportunity to lead, manage and supervise our Emergency Duty Team that delivers a social work safeguarding service to vulnerable adults, children and those experiencing mental ill health in Bolton out of hours.
This is a new post and will be responsible for supervision, managing team and individual performances, quality assurance and rota management, whilst also supporting the team to undertake some shifts. The Manager will be part of, and supported by peers, on the Referral & Assessment Management Team in Children’s Services.
The successful candidate will be a qualified social worker with a passion for working with vulnerable families, children and individuals to improve their outcomes and to keep them safe from harm. We are looking for a calm, focussed person with experience of supporting/managing social workers who are managing social care emergencies out of hours.
About You
You will be a motivated and excellent Social Work Practitioner with experience in supporting and managing staff who work out of hours. You be a practicing Approved Mental Health Professional and have the ability to build effective relationships with your team, your colleagues, other professionals and those you manage.
You will have good knowledge and practical experience in safeguarding children and adults, as well as being able to manage performance and understand the current changes and challenges within out of hours social work.
You will be resilient, adaptable and capable of working effectively with colleagues from other professional disciplines and be able to work out of hours as part of a rota or when supporting staff.
You will be an excellent communicator, efficient in time management and solution focused as well as a strong team player who values the strengths of others.
About Us
The Emergency Duty Service sits within the Children’s Services Social Care Department in Bolton. We are rated as GOOD by Ofsted with a strong reputation for supporting staff and managers. The Emergency Duty Team sits with the Senior Head of Service responsible for the Integrated Front Door and Referral & Assessment Team.
Bolton can offer you the opportunity to work within a fully supported environment where you will receive regular supervision from an experienced Head of Service and be part of a focussed and motivated management team. You will also receive clinical support from a Senior Manager within Greater Manchester Mental Health.
Although the post has an out of hours element you will also work alongside colleagues with a range of experience across Children’s and Adults Services, Greater Manchester Mental Health trust, the Hospital, GP’s, Housing and other agencies. You will be valued for the skills and experience that you personally bring to the department, and you will be encouraged to build on these with a keen eye on your Continuous Professional Development.
