The Role

The North Adult Community Mental Health Team is looking to recruit a Deputy Team Manager for social work who has experience of working with Adults with Mental Illness in addition to high standards of leadership and management skills.

Prior experience of working within Adult Mental Health services and AMHP qualification is desirable.

 

The post holder will support the Greater Manchester mental Health (GMMH) Team Manager, in accordance with the existing Section 75 agreement, to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams covering the Bolton area in addition to taking a professional lead for Social Workers within the service, working with the Head of Mental Health Social Work to maintain and further develop professional leadership and supervision within the service.

About You

The post-holder will have a key role around leadership on practice within the team and will support the GMMH Team Manager in managing and daily co-ordinating the Community Mental Health Team.
In supporting the team manager, the post-holder will be responsible for ensuring that the team works cohesively and meets its objectives in the most effective and efficient way. The post-holder will also support the manager in ensuring the full implementation of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act and the Care Programme Approach. In the absence of the manager, the post-holder will deputise on their behalf.


The post-holder will take responsibility for supervision of the work of the various workers within the team and ensure that that the practice and standard of work is consistently high and meets the requirements of the Local Authority, Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust and other partnership bodies. In addition, the post-holder will act as co-worker to support staff with service users who have complex needs and to support and lead staff with complex legislative processes, such as Court of Protection proceedings and other complex Care Act related issues.

 

The post holder will offer clinical and managerial supervision to staff within the team, taking responsibility for social work supervision specifically, but not exclusively and ensuring that the practice of workers is of a consistently high standard and reflects the protocols and guidelines developed both locally and nationally. In particular, the post holder will lead on social work development, supervision and practice within the Older Adults service.
